Harmony Barber Shop

If you have never been to the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, you need to add this to your "to do list" for your next trip!!
Thanks to Travels2Florida.com for this image.

In 2008, our son, JAG needed a haircut prior to our trip, but we didn't have time to make that happen. So, we made the decision to go to Harmony on our first day so we wouldn't have to worry about it a week later when we returned home! This quickly became something we will do on all future trips! I'll make sure someone in the family doesn't get their haircut prior to the trip so we will have to swing by Harmony! We were disappointed at Disneyland this year to find out you can't get a haircut on property...

Getting suited up for the cut!

The work begins! While JAG was intently watching the haircut happen, dad and I were listening to 2 older women discuss the hundreds (literally) of embroidered Disney characters on their denim long sleeve shirts!

A very pleased boy!

The finished product, complete with a blue gel mohawk and Pixie Dust shaped like Mickey's head!

The gel and pixie dust lasted through the day as we ended with one last round of Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger Spin!

Harmony Barber Shop is a quaint "old timey" barber shop located on the left side of Main Street between the horse barn and the Emporium. The barber pole out front is a definite give away! Inside you will feel like you are back in the early 1900s waiting to get a haircut. If you are lucky, you'll get to hear the "Dapper Dan's" barbershop quartet perform while you wait. The atmosphere is great, the conversations are fun and the haircut results are fabulous!

If you bring your baby in for their first haircut you will get special treatment from the barbers including a pair of "first haircut" embroidered Mickey Ears and a certificate! If you choose, you can have the barbers sprinkle Mickey head sprinkles in your "do" when they are finished cutting and styling your hair. They also have colored gel to add some flair to your "do" and I've even seen an airbrushed Mickey head on the back of people's heads!

The Harmony Barber Shop is open from 9-5, 7 days a week. When we were there last we walked up and waited for the chair to open. I've heard recently that you have to have an appointment now to get a hair cut. I don't know if that is correct or not. I also don't know how early you have to make this appointment or who you need to call to do this... can you help answer these questions for me?
