War Eagle! This mighty tiger was found at Animal Kingdom in February 2008. After watching my Auburn Tigers stay undefeated for 9 games and sit at #1 in the BCS poll, I had to post this majestic photo from AK!!

Bibbidi Bobbidi Boo!

Cinderella characters are another bunch I've met several times on our trips. I saw the Fairy Godmother and got a quick photo of her and JAG while we were eating dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table, but I didn't get a photo with her or her autograph. I've also never met Prince Charming. I'll work on that in December!

The picture below with Cinderella was taken in February of 2005 at the Judges Tent in Toontown at the Magic Kingdom. I think I waited in line for 45 minutes to meet her, Aurora and Snow White. The autograph was at the same time.
The mice, Suzy and Perla were found in February of 2008 also at the Magic Kingdom. We met them right as we entered the park on the right side after we walked under the railroad tracks. Jonathan looks thrilled to have a mouse hanging on his arm!

Jonathan and I met Lady Tremaine, Drizella and Anastasia in January of 2008 when we went to run the half marathon. We were at the Magic Kingdom behind the castle by the Cinderella water fountain. They were so much fun! We had several photos taken with them- photopass and my camera. The ones on my camera were so much better, so I didn't order any of the photopass photos. Then, when I went to look for them on my external hard drive- they weren't there. I think when I downloaded them they were named the same as some previous photos (IMG 36546...). I lost all but one photo from that trip. :( The one that made it is a stupid hold out photo of us on Space Mountain and we are both making idiotic faces... Oh well. I'll add these 3 to my list in December as well!

It's almost HALLOWEEN!

This past week has been crazy but fun! We spent last Saturday at a local farm where the kids could do many fun things: milk a cow, pet the animals (burrow, goats, sheep, turkeys, ducks, pigs, guinea pigs, chickens, rabbits, dogs and cats), ride a wagon, pick pumpkins, jump in corn, go through a hay maze, lasso a cow (made out of hay bales), dress a scarecrow, shoot a slingshot, fish with cane poles, ride horses, jump in a hay pile, go down a hay slide and gather eggs in the hen house. We also ate lunch there! Following the day at the farm, we watched football and my friend and I finished the kids costumes (Pebbles and Bam Bam). Sunday was the Fall Festival and Trunk or Treat at church. I dressed as a Disney World tourist complete with my Mickey shirt, lanyard with pins, princess watch, Mickey earrings, camera and camera bag with WDW on it, a Goofy hat and my backpack with my autograph book, penny album, park maps, WDW poncho, Mickey and Pooh balloons, Conservation button from AK, First Visit button from Disneyland, Anniversary button from WDW and Minnie and Mickey stuffed animals. The beginning of this week has been spent playing catch up around the house since I spent all weekend having fun and not tending to laundry, dishes, and the constant clutter!

All that to say, we're only 4 days from Halloween! One of the things on my Disney Bucket List is to go to Disney World in October for Halloween. There are many unique things to do in Disney World this month:

1. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party* On certain nights in October you can buy a special ticket to MNSSHP. Guests can dress in their favorite Halloween costumes, mingle with Disney characters dressed in their costumes and trick-or-treat throughout the Magic Kingdom. Included in your ticket to the party is Mickey's "Boo-to-You" Halloween Parade, trick-or-treating at various locations, Dance Parties around the park, a show featuring the Disney Villains, and the Happy HalloWishes fireworks.
2. Trick or Treating in DTD- On October 30 and 31 from 5-9pm kids can trick or treat at Downtown Disney at 20 locations. You can also enjoy a DJ Dance party, magicians, storytellers and more!
3. Special Events at Disney Resorts- Scroll to the bottom of this link to find information on events at Fort Wilderness, Old Key West, Port Orleans, Saratoga Springs, and Wilderness Lodge revolving around Halloween!
4. Epcot's International Food and Wine Festival- You can sample food and wine from more than 2 dozen countries around the World Showcase Lagoon at Epcot. While you are strolling the lagoon, you will be immersed in the cuisine, culture and entertainment of the countries.
*I've heard that if you can't get a ticket to MNSSHP you can go to Fort Wilderness... after the Boo To You Parade, the Headless Horseman has to ride back to the stables to put up his horse for the night! How creepy would it be to see the Headless Horseman riding through Fort Wilderness?!?!?

Mary Poppins, practically perfect in every way.

I've met Mary Poppins a few times, but only met Bert and Mr. Penguin once. The photo above was during our February 2008 trip to WDW. We found Mary and Bert on Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom. As you enter the right side tunnel under the railroad tracks, they were up in the covered sidewalk to the right. I also got their autographs...
...even though I already had Mary's from a previous trip (below). I can't remember which trip this autograph was from, sorry. Interesting how her autograph changed over the years! ;)
I met Mr. Penguin during my trip in November of 2006 with my mother. This was in Epcot at the American Pavilion in World Showcase. I'm not quite sure why Mr. Penguin was at the American Pavilion? If you look above Mr Penguins head, between the tree trunks/ limbs, you can see Spaceship Earth!

A Silhouette from Liberty Square

Have you ever seen the cast member sitting by the cart on the left side of the walkway, outside of Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe as you enter Liberty Square from Cinderella's Castle? If you have, I hope you have taken the time to have a silhouette made. If you haven't, I hope the next time you are in Liberty Square you will take advantage of this treat! JAG sat down and within 5 minutes, literally, we had 2 framed silhouettes of him! It's a fairly inexpensive souvenir that you will always have! I plan on having silhouettes done of the boys every trip we take from now on. I can't wait to see how they change over the years!

The hardest part was having JAG sit still while this nice man cut his silhouette out of a black sheet of paper!
The focus this man had while he created this piece of art was amazing. I have no idea how he CUT such intricate details!! Even the cowlick made it into the picture!
Here is the finished product that hangs in our hallway. I think the silhouette was around $10. We actually got 2 silhouettes- the paper was folded, so the silhouettes are facing opposite directions! We paid a little more (I don't remember how much, sorry) to have it framed. It is a cheap, black plastic frame, but it works fine! We gave the second framed silhouette to Mimi and Granddaddy!

the newest "to do"

Thanks to Lauren at Working on my Forever! She sent me a link to the cutest, budget friendly, homemade Disney t-shirts!

I'll definitely be making this for our trip in December! Instead of the "pirate Mickey" I think I'll do a "Santa Mickey" for me and Cman. I told Jonathan I would make all of us one to wear to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, but he said no he didn't want to lose his dignity... or something similar to that. bah humbug. That should be his new name. Where is the fun in this guy I married?!? (Just kidding. He really is a lot of fun, just not when it comes to dressing up- for anything.)

Maybe I can get him to wear a simple Bleached Mickey shirt...

After I make the Santa Mickey hats and bleach shirts, I'll make Mickey Mouse Pop Biscuits (or oreos!) These will be great to eat on the way down to WDW.

Toy Story Characters

I have met Woody and the gang multiple times at WDW in the past 10 years. This photo below of me, Buzz, Woody and Jessie was at MGM Studios in February of 2005. It was right outside of Pizza Planet. I am not a fan of the stamped autographs, but I understand it's necessary for some characters. I'm just glad Jessie could sign her own name! Woody, Buzz and Jessie signed at the same time the photo was made.
Another visit with the Toy Story gang was during the Marathon in January of 2003. I had this photo taken during the race. I stopped outside the back entrance to MGM around mile 22-23. I was beat at this time and seeing these guys gave me strength to continue! The Buzz autograph came later during my February 2005 trip (see above) and the Green Army Man autograph came during the February 2006 trip with JAG and Jonathan.

Friday's Favorites: Couponing to Disney

I have a new obsession thanks to my new online friend Kristin at Couponing To Disney. While searching for new Disney blogs a few months ago, I ran across Kristin's site. I started reading daily trying to figure out this "couponing" craze. I thought I had it somewhat figured out, but didn't. Then JG told me about a couponing class in Decatur, so I went. I learned so much more. I still have a long way to go though! I would love to "coupon to Disney", but right now I need to "coupon to zero debt!" We're getting there!! Once we are at ZERO (minus our car/ house payment) maybe I'll start Couponing to Disney and open up a special account for a trip to The World!

This was my first true coupon trip to Publix a few weeks ago:
I spent $18.42 for everything in the photo. I saved $38.21 with coupons! I was able to get the Hidden Valley dressings for FREE and 4 Right Guard deodorants for FREE! The KC masterpiece marinade was FREE and the KC BBQ sauce was only $.89. The spray n wash was $.50, the lysol bleach spray was $.35, the pasta was $.15, the chunky soups were $.29 each and I made $.03 on the bread crumbs! I was pretty excited about my purchase! Now, if I can just find somewhere in the house to stash my "stockpile" items!

"Wordless Wednesday" Tibetan Prayer Flags

I love the Prayer Flags that hang throughout the Asia section of Animal Kingdom, especially Expedition Everest. Here is a blurb I found online about the prayer flags:

"Prayer Flags are inscribed with auspicious symbols, invocations, prayers, and mantras. Tibetan Buddhists for centuries have planted these flags outside their homes and places of spiritual practice for the wind to carry the beneficent vibrations across the countryside. Prayer flags are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity to the flag planter and those in the vicinity. Dharma prints bear traditional Buddhist symbols, protectors and enlightened beings. As the Buddhist spiritual approach is non-theistic, the elements of Tantric iconography do not stand for external beings, but represent aspects of enlightened mind i.e. compassion, perfect action, fearlessness, etc. Displayed with respect, Dharma prints impart a feeling of harmony and bring to mind the precious teachings."

Monday's Memories

What a crazy weekend! I've been on a Junior High retreat with church and am using today to catch up on reading email, blogs and couponing. I've also washed several loads of clothes, cleaned all 3 bathrooms and straightened up the den. It feels good to get things done! JAG's face in the photo below is a good example of how I feel! This shot was on the Pangani Forest Exploration Trail at Animal Kingdom in 2008. We had completed the Kilimanjaro Safari and decided to walk to trail, again. I have no idea what kind of bird this is, but he could have been confused with a statue! He would not move! I continued to take photos of JAG getting closer and closer to the bird. Finally, after this shot, JAG reached out as if to touch the bird and he walked away.

If you haven't taken the time to walk the Pangani Forest Trail, DO IT! There are so many wonderful photo opportunities and great animals to see, that you may not see on the Safari attraction.

Monday's Memories: Luke Skywalker

Meet Luke Skywalker...

We met him during our February 2008 trip to WDW. We went to Animal Kingdom and took the Wildlife Express to Rafiki's Planet Watch where we met Luke Skywalker at the Affection Section. At the Affection Section, you can go into a "pen" and pet sheep and goats. Luke Skywalker was a favorite of ours. Jonathan and JAG spent some quality time with Luke Skywalker! By the end of our time there he was following Jonathan around the pen wanting more attention! I read online that the goats at Affection Section are San Clemente Goats. Read this interesting info on the San Clemente Goats- one of the MANY reasons I love Disney! They do amazing things to help others- people and animals!

If you haven't spent any time at Rafiki's Planet Watch or the Affection Section, I would recommend it during your next trip- especially if you have little ones!! We almost skipped this part of Animal Kingdom, but decided to do it at the last minute. What a treasure! We will definitely take the train to Rafiki's Planet Watch on our next trip! I'm sure Cman will love the sheep (baaaa) and goats!

Welcome to Agrabah

I met Aladdin and Genie during my marathon trip in January 2003 with Deb. We were in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom by The Magic Carpets of Aladdin when I got both autographs and the photo below. Princess Jasmine's autograph and photo came later. She was also found in Adventureland by the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. However, this photo came during my February 2005 trip.

This photo with Genie was during my June of 1996 trip with my family after my college graduation. Paul, Mark and I were in the same place in Adventureland between the Swiss Family Treehouse and the Jungle Cruise... the Magic Carpets of Aladdin was not an attraction at the time. The autograph came during my 2003 marathon trip.
I met Jafar in 1996, I believe, but don't know why I don't have a photo. I remember meeting him outside the entrance to MGM in June. There were several "villains" out and about at MGM that day!

The Neverland Gang

All of these autographs and photos came from my trip in January 2003 while I was at Walt Disney World with my friend Deb to run the marathon. These were all in the Magic Kingdom. Mr Smee was actually the first of this group that we met. We were on Main Street USA. Peter Pan, Wendy and Captain Hook were in Adventure Land outside of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. You can tell as the day went on I had to pull back my hair! I'm sure it was because it was looking crazy after our splash down Splash Mountain!
