Playhouse Disney to become Disney Junior

If you have little ones in your house you are probably familiar with Playhouse Disney. And, if you've been watching Playhouse Disney ANY in the past few months, you probably know it will be changing over to Disney Junior on Monday, February 14. That gives us one more weekday and the weekend to see this logo (on a daily basis at our house!) in the mornings on the Disney Channel.

Starting Monday, on Disney Junior, you will be able to continue watching some of your favorite characters and will have a chance to meet some new ones! "Jake and the Never Land Pirates" is a new cartoon featuring Captain Hook and Mr. Smee from the movie "Peter Pan" along with some new characters. "Babar and the Adventures of Badou" is a new take on the classic "Babar" cartoon featuring Babar's grandson, Badou. "Tinga Tinga Tales" is a new cartoon adventure that was inspired by traditional African animal folktales. "Doc McStuffins" is also a new cartoon about a 6 year old girl who can communicate with and heal her stuffed animals and toys. "Little Princesses" is a new group of royals learning about caring, self respect and generosity from Disney characters like Cinderella.

You will also still be able to enjoy some of your favorite Playhouse Disney characters and shows:

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

Imagination Movers

Handy Manny

Chuggington

Little Einsteins

Timmy Time

Jungle Junction

Special Agent Oso

Disney Junior is also going to incorporate more Healthy Living segments to encourage children and parents to live a healthier life through eating and exercise. "Mickey Mousekersize", hosted by Mickey and the gang, will focus on exercising and getting kids off the couch and moving. "Special Agent Oso: Three Healthy Steps" will show a live kid demonstrating three healthy steps to eating right and exercising.

I do wonder if Ooh and Aah will still be part of our morning? Or Happy Monster Band, Choo Choo Soul, Ze Fronk, Dance A Lot Robot, or Can you teach my alligator manners? I guess we'll have to wait and see!

For 2011, Disney Junior will be shown in the mornings like Playhouse Disney is now. Sometime in 2012, Disney owned SOAPNet will be replaced with Disney Junior 24/7!

  1. I am looking forward to the changes, especially the addition of the Mousekersize. I hope they keep Ze Fronk on, my girls love to cook and always want to see what he is making. It motivates them to want to create their own snacks!
