Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I happened to be in NYC for St. Patrick's Day in 2004 and grabbed this pin at the Disney Store! It's one of my favorites because it includes 2 of my favorite things: NYC and Disney!

I've decided that I want to visit Walt Disney World on March 17 for multiple reasons:

1. It's only a week after my anniversary. I would love to spend time with my husband alone at WDW for our anniversary- staying at the Polynesian of course! :)

2. Epcot's International Flower and Garden Festival I'd LOVE to see all the flowers and topiaries at Epcot. I would also love to run into some of the HGTV stars! The Flower Power concert series would be a lot of fun too. This weekend Chubby Checker is playing!!

3. Spring Training for the Atlanta Braves. I've blogged about my love for baseball before and on March 16, 2011 they played my Boston Red Sox! Maybe the year I go to WDW for St. Patrick's Day, they'll be playing on March 17!

4. Celebrate St. Patrick's Day at Downtown Disney. Throughout DTD there is special entertainment and events for adults and kids centered around the holiday. There are food and drink specials, themed face painting, lots of Irish music, folk dancing and green! If you forget to pack something green to wear, you can easily pick something up from a vendor: beads, bowler hats, Mickey ears, feather boas, etc. The children are included in the fun too! There is a Pot 'o' Gold treasure hunt where they find hidden clovers throughout DTD. They have the opportunity to win prizes or a gold doubloon! (If your kids have been watching Jake and the Neverland Pirates on Disney Junior, they will LOVE finding doubloons!) The Lego Store and Build A Bear Workshop will have special St. Patrick's Day merchandise and clover activities too!

So, those are my reasons for wanting to visit WDW for St. Patrick's Day. Did I miss something!?

  1. Those sound like solid reasons to visit on St. Patrick's Day! When I lived in FL, the White Sox trained in Sarasota. Nothing like a good spring training game!

  2. Those are some of my reasons for wanting to visit on St. Patty's day. I'll be rooting for the Braves though. :o)

  3. I would cheer for the Braves, except when they play the Red Sox! I lived in ATL for a few years in the 80s and went to A LOT of games, so I have a soft spot for them even when they're bad! :)

Becky- I would love to go to any spring training game really!!

  4. You know, the WDW DTD is always doing such cool things. I wish the one over here would get hip to that.

I would love to see the Flower and Garden Festival too. I'm a big time lover of gardening, I would appreciate the beauty of it so much. I really need to make sure to schedule around that next time I go. I've always gone at Christmas, but I might have to break that. :)
