Flashback Friday: Main Street USA Flower Cart

Sarah at Magical Days with the Mouse has been hosting the Flashback Friday hop for a while now.  We will be taking a short break from this weekly segment, but be sure to check back on her blog and mine down the road for more Flashback Friday photos!  Thanks Sarah for being such a great host!!

This weeks Flashback Friday comes from my first trip to WDW in 1983.  Before some of the stores on Main Street USA grew, there was a nice flower cart tucked in between the buildings on the left side of Main St. as you walk towards Cinderella's Castle.  I think we went to sit on this cart on each trip for a picture until they removed it.  I can't find the other shots, but I do remember having one made in 1991 when my high school boyfriend went with us to WDW!

This is me (age 8) and my brother Paul (age 4) in March of '83.  This photo is special because 1) the flower carts are no longer there and 2) there is evidence that my parents actually splurged on popcorn for both of us!!!  I know I learned my frugalness from my dad, so to see that they spent money on popcorn blows me away! :)

  1. I remember that Flower Cart. There is much about the old Main Street that we lost as the park became more crowded and the shops expanded. I miss that simpler time. But still, nothing gives me chill bumps like waking down Main Street at night. Thanks for the memories!

  2. LOL! I was thinking the same thing about the popcorn when I first looked at the picture. That was before we knew how expensive things could get! Amateurs!!

  7. Ok, I just laughed out loud at the popcorn comment! Apparently, your dad and mine have a lot in common!! What a cute shot! I don't remember the flower carts, but it definitely looks like a great spot for a family photo.

  8. Great Flashback Beth, I love the cart and I never did get to see it. Glad you posted this picture of it.. I wonder how much the popcorn was back then?

  9. In 1996 there were three sets of these benches with carts.  I asked my wife to marry me as she sat on one of the benches.  We go back every year.  I wish they were still there.
