Happy Birthday Mickey Mouse!

Welcome to our Mickey Mouse Birthday Party Blog Hop!  This year Mickey Mouse will be turning 83 and we thought it would be fun to all celebrate with our little ones.  I’ll be sharing about different activities and games for the party.  You can find links to the other party ideas at the end of this post.

My 2 year old son, Cman, and I are responsible for the games part of our Mickey Birthday Blog Hop!  Earlier in the week, he and I made a pinata that you will see below.  All week he's been asking about Mickey's Birthday Party, and I didn't have the heart to tell him we were just doing the games part and not the rest of the party!  So, I ran to Wal Mart today during lunch to pick up some mini cupcakes for our party!  He decided Minnie and Mickey both needed cupcakes!

For our Mickey Mouse Birthday Party games, our original plan was to start outside blowing Mickey bubbles (found at Walgreen's Drugstore during Easter) and drawing on the driveway with chalk.  These are two activities we enjoy doing on a regular basis so we thought it would be fun to start our party with these outdoor activities!  But, it was too cold, so we stayed inside to do Mickey coloring sheets!  You can find a few pages here.

The first game we played was "Pin the Tail on Mickey."  I'm loving this vintage game from the 1930s, but I didn't want to spend that much money! :)  Instead, I printed out a picture of Mickey's backside and used ribbon for the tails.  I went first wearing a blindfold and pinned the tail on Mickey's right foot!  Cman didn't want to wear the blindfold, so he just pinned the tails all over- on the other foot, on his hand and on his "booty!"

The next game we played was breaking a Mickey Mouse Pinata!  You can purchase your own traditional or pull string pinata or you can make your own.  I followed the directions on the "At Second Street" tutorial on how to make a Minnie Pinata and left off the bow to make it Mickey.  Cman had a blast swinging at the pinata and collecting the candy.  He told daddy he went trick or treating again!

Another game you can play if you are having a party with other kids, is a Mickey version of "Duck, Duck, Goose."  All the children sit in a circle with one child being "it."  The "it" child taps each child (lightly!) on the head and say "Meeska", "Mooska", "Mickey", "Mouse!" When they say "Mouse" that child stands up and chases the "it" child around the circle. "It" tries to get in "Mouses" spot without being tagged.  If "It" is tagged, he sits in the middle of the circle and the "Mouse" child is now "it."  Once another child is tagged, the one in the center of the circle swaps places with the newly tagged child.  This version of the game allows every 4th child to be chosen, so nobody can play favorites!

Sounds like you and Cman had a blast - I love the Mickey-themed duck duck goose game. I'll have to introduce that for my kids :)

  2. Ok, C-Man had the most fun out of all of us.  He's going to start telling you when other charachters birthdays are!

  5. What great ideas for games!  Love the version of Duck, Duck, Goose!

  6. I know you wrote this over 6 months ago, but I'm hoping you will see this question and be able to help.  I am absolutely in love with the pin the tail on mickey game.  Where did you find the mickey that you used.  I have searched all over the internet and haven't found it yet.  Please help!!!

  7. I hope you get this reply!!  search for "Vintage Hallmark Pin The Tail On Mickey Mouse."  I think it's on Ebay for $10-$15... or you can do what I did.  I found the image I liked off Ebay and took a screen shot with my computer and printed the image on 2 sheets of 8x11 and taped them together.  I used ribbon from home for the tails... cheating, I know!

  8. Thank you so much Beth Green!  I will do that!!!  Soooo appreciate the response & the help!!!
