Destination Disney: Teal or Turquoise

Today's color is Teal or Turquoise.  This was harder than I thought because I continuously wanted to choose blue pictures, but had to refrain!!  That color will come soon enough.  So, sit back and enjoy a few teal shots from WDW!

A few characters wear teal/ turquoise:

Jasmine's outfit and the three nephew's shirts: Huey, Duey and Louis!

Drizella's dress and the "flap" on Push the Trashcan.

The Club Cool sign and the slide at the French Quarter pool.

Tuesday's Tip: Mail from Main Street USA

I've always been told that if you mail a piece of mail from Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom it will have a "Magic Kingdom" postmark on it...  but each time I've mailed a postcard home it always just had "Orlando" on the card.

However, I found out this past week that you CAN get Main Street USA, Magic Kingdom marked on your mail!  If you take your mail to City Hall and ask for the Main Street post mark, they will stamp your mail for you!  Then when it goes in the mailbox, it will get the Orlando postmark at the post office.

So, next time you are at WDW, if you have a special card to send to someone (like this awesome Birthday card from my parents) visit City Hall first and have them stamp your envelope!  I'll assume they will do this for postcards purchased in the park too!

Happy Mailing! :)

Magical Blogorail Green: Fantasy Disney Splurge Experience

Welcome to those of you joining me from Disney Living and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the final stop on our Magical Blogorail.

Our topic this month is "Fantasy Disney Splurge Experience."  For some reason when I first heard this topic I thought of shopping splurges and I cringed.  I hate shopping... even Disney shopping.  My idea of "shopping" is browsing through a store and seeing if anything jumps out at me.  I hate to spend money, so if something jumps out it better be cheap or on sale!  When I do go shopping it's for a purpose- never to just browse.

So, once I got my mind out of the "shopping gutter" I started thinking of more "realistic" fantasy splurges for me and my family!  That would be an ideal vacation at Walt Disney World.  Let's see....  This is what would be included in our vacation.

1) Grandparents. They are built in babysitters so my husband and I could enjoy some nice "adult" dinners together!
2) Staying in a suite at the Polynesian.  I assume there are suites there!  I've never even looked since I know it's not a reality, but this is all fantasy, so we'll say they do have suites we can stay in!
3) A fireworks cruise for the family and possibly a Pirates Adventure Cruise for the boys- if they are interested!
4) Dinner reservations while the kids are with grandparents at Le Cellier, Artist's Point and Victoria and Alberts.
5) Meals with the whole gang at Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue (I'll give it another shot since this is fantasy!), Whispering Canyon Cafe and Cinderella's Royal Table.
6) Obviously our tickets would include park hopping plus "water park fun and more", so we could visit Disney Quest, both water parks and the mini golf.
7) I would include the Keys to the Kingdom tour and the Wild Africa Trek for the family and if the younger ones were too young, the grandparents could always keep them! :)
8) I would also have unlimited snack options and unlimited fast passes to my favorite attractions.
9) Front row seats for all the parades and firework shows.
10) And, we would fly down instead of drive!  That way we could experience Magical Express... but I'd want a rental car included too so we could drive to the parks if we wanted!

What have I left off my list?!

Thank you for joining Magical Blogorail Green this month. Tuesday's Tip: Unused Tickets

Here's a tip for you that my parents experienced first hand...

If you have any unused, non-expiration park tickets left at the end of your vacation, make sure ONE person is responsible for all the unused tickets.  Better yet, make sure that ONE person is someone who is organized and loves Disney.

My parents got the 4 day Military tickets in March and used one day.  They planned to use the rest of their days this month.  The night before they left, my mom asked my dad if he had his ticket and he said, "No.  I thought it was my room key from March and threw it away at the end of our last trip..."

It stinks, but it can happen.

Celebrating Birthdays at Walt Disney World

Have you ever traveled to Walt Disney World on your birthday or another family member's birthday? It's actually been years, 21 years to the day to be exact, since I was at WDW on my birthday. At that point, I had no idea there were "perks" to celebrating your birthday at the parks! Some "perks" are free and some are not, but here are a few ideas to help make your special day that much more special!

1. When you arrive at the park, head straight to Guest Services and request a Birthday Button! These are free and will get you special attention throughout the day from cast members and park guests.

2. When you call to make your hotel and dining reservations, let Disney know you will be celebrating a birthday. The restaurants and your resort may do something special for your day! (On our anniversary, we got special desserts at the restaurants.)

3. Order a birthday cake to be delivered to your table at a restaurant on property. Call (407) 827-2253 48-hours before the special meal to make arrangements.

4. Make reservations (180 days in advance) at the birthday persons favorite restaurant on property- don't forget #2!!

5. Decorate your hotel room while the birthday guest is sleeping or taking a shower! Or for a price, you have have decorations sent to your room from Disney Florist! Call 407-939-4438 for prices and learn more about the packages at Disney Florist.

6. Book a "Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage" on the birthday night. Prices are $54 for adults and $31 for children; for more info visit Pirate and Pals Fireworks Voyage.

7. Make plans to have your princess made over at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique or your pirate made over at The Pirate's League.

8. Buy a birthday hat at any of the souvenir shops on Disney Property and have the birthday guest wear it all day!
9. Plan a private birthday party at Goofy's Candy Co in Downtown Disney!

10. Let the birthday guest choose the activities for the day.

11. Buy a special birthday pin or souvenir for the birthday guest!

Destination Disney: YELLOW

This week, our Destination Disney Color is YELLOW!  Thanks Heidi for the fun meme...

Pluto is Yellow.  So is Annie's hair.

The Halloween decorations wear yellow and the flowers at the entrance are also yellow.

Characters in flight and a car in the Jammin' Jungle Parade are yellow.

Don't forget the Prime Time Cafe Sign along with Pooh!

Decorations at Pop Century are yellow.

The Dumbo test elephant and the slide at the Boneyard are also yellow!

There were so many great "yellows" at all of the parks!  My favorite is Belle's ball dress, but I couldn't find a picture...

February 17, 2012 WDW recap: Day 6

We started our day at ESPN's Wide World of Sports looking for an NBA souvenir for JAG, but couldn't find anything.  We took some time walking around the facility, dreaming of the day we'll be there to see the Atlanta Braves play spring training games!

Next we made our way to the Magic Kingdom.  We strolled around, took in the sights and sounds, walked through every shop possible and rode a few attractions.   We had lunch at Tony's.  As always, I ordered spaghetti- it's my staple at any and all Italian restaurants and I still have never had a bowl of spaghetti that's as good as my grandmother's recipe!  Even better than the spaghetti was the free ice cream sundae for our anniversary treat!

Following our lunch, we continued to stroll around the park sampling different treats, meeting characters and soaking it all in.  A few of my favorite treats from the day were the sugar cookie from the Confectionary and the Mickey shaped pretzel from Frontierland!  In fact, we had 2 of these during the week!

We ended our day at Epcot.  All we did was walk around, shop and watch the sites!  In fact, I barely took any pictures this day.  I didn't want to carry my "big camera" around and forgot to take out my "little camera" like I should have!  I felt like I had taken quite a few pictures earlier in the week, so I wasn't too disappointed.
