Disney's All Star Sports Review

In February of 2006 we took our first family trip to Walt Disney World.   My husband and I had been several times before, but this was our first time together and with our then, oldest son.  We knew we were going to spend a lot of money on the amazing meals, so de decided to stay at a value resort. We decided on Disney's All Star Sports Resort because my son loves sports. He did when he was 6, during this trip, and he still does today at age 13!

Disney's All Star Sports Resort, built in 1994, was the first Value Resort on property. There are 1,920 rooms that are located in 10 different buildings. The buildings are all sports themed: football, tennis, baseball, surfing and basketball. Each room has 2 double beds, a dresser, a small table with 2 chairs, and bedside table. There is a small safe, TV, a small refrigerator and clock radio. Hairdryers, bed rails and portable cribs can be requested from housekeeping.  Wi-Fi is also available for free to all guests. The restrooms have a tub and a toilet. Outside the tub area is a vanity area with a single sink and counter space. The wheelchair accessible rooms have a king size bed and a shower instead of a tub.

We spent a good deal of time in Stadium Hall at the front of the resort. Inside the Hall is the lobby, front desk, concierge, Game Point Arcade, Sport Goofy Gift and Sundries, and the End Zone Food Court. While we didn’t spend any time in the pools, there are two- Surfboard Bay located behind Stadium Hall and the Grand Slam pool located between the baseball buildings.

The best part of this resort for my son was the football field between the buildings! It was marked off with yard lines and had oversized “X” and “O” players on the field. Each night after we would return from the parks, my husband and son would have a game on the field. I think this was one of the highlights of the trip for my then 6 year old! I did not get a decent picture of them playing, but the one above gives you a taste of the fun.

If you want to stay on Walt Disney World property, but don’t want to spend a whole lot of money, I would highly suggest the All Star Sports Resort- especially if you have a son who loves sports as much as mine does! It’s not the biggest or fanciest resort, but it’s a lot of fun and offers great photo ops.
