#runDisney's Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend 2014

Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend is right around the corner! What an exciting time for these athletes! Starting Thursday, January 9 the races begin.  On Wednesday, January 8 starting at 10:00am, the Disney's Health & Fitness Expo at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex begins.  Here, you can pick up your race number and packet, see the marathon weekend merchandise, and see latest in running apparel and fitness equipment. At the Expo, runners can take part in a speaker series where celebrity runners and speakers will lead seminars on training, racing, and nutrition.

Here are the details of all the races during the weekend:

Walt Disney World Marathon
Sunday, January 12, 2014 starting at 5:30 a.m. at Epcot.  The 26.2 mile race will be an adventure will will never forget!  Beginning and ending at Epcot, the race will take you through all four Walt Disney World theme parks, EPSN Wide World of Sports and the Walt Disney World SPEEDWAY.  You'll have the chance to run through Cinderella Castle, pass the Tree of Life, through the streets of Disney's Hollywood Studios and around the World Showcase.

Walt Disney World Half Marathon
Saturday, January 11, 2014 starting at 5:30 a.m. at Epcot.  This 13.1 run tis a great race for your first half marathon.  Running through the
 Magic Kingdom allows you to see the magic of Walt Disney World and the finish at Spaceship Earth is breathtaking! 

Walt Disney World 10K
Friday, January 10, 2014 starting at 5:30 a.m. at Epcot.  The 10K is the newest event in the weekend.  This 6.2 mile course allows you to run though Epcot's World Showcase and get a great taste of the marathon weekend.

Disney Family Fun Run 5K
Thursday, January 9, 2014 starting at 6:15 a.m. at Epcot.  Grab your family and run in Disney's Family Fun Run 5K.  Your family will spend 3.1 miles running through Epcot's Future World and World Showcase.  This is a perfect event for all runners to join together as a family and experience a runDisney race.

runDisney Kid Races
Thursday, January 9 – Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 
ESPN Wide World of Sports Track & Field Complex
Kids Dashes: 11:00 a.m.
Mickey Mile: 12:00 p.m.
At the runDisney Kid races, every child walks off as a winner!  Kids who participate and are 13 and under receive a Finisher Medallion.  All children can sign up for the Kid Dashes- a Diaper Dash for the youngest, a 100m dash, 200m dash, or 400m dash.   The Mickey Mile is great for the kids who are ready for a longer distance!  Parents are allowed to run with their children.

Goofy's Race and a Half
Saturday, January 11 - Sunday, January 12, 2014 starting at Epcot.
The Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge is two days of pure Disney running magic!  Take on the half marathon (13.1 miles) on Saturday and the full marathon (26.2 miles) on Sunday.  You'll get to experience 2 days of racing, 4 parks and 39.3 miles!  When you finish both races within the pacing requirements, you'll go home with a Donald Duck half medal, Mickey Mouse full medal and the coveted Goofy medal!

Dopey Challenge
Thursday, January 9 - Sunday, January 12, 2014 starting at Epcot.
This challenge is for the ultimate runner!  Spend 4 days running 48.6 miles through the Walt Disney World Resort in the Dopey Challenge!  Runners will participate in the 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon.  When you finish all 4 races within the pacing requirements, you'll get all 6 medals: 5K, 10K, Half, Full, Goofy AND Dopey!!

If you are participating in the Goofy and/or Dopey Challenge, you need to make sure you have registered for all the races, including Goofy and Dopey!

  1. I'd be hard-pressed to run a 5K, let alone that Goofy Challenge! LOL Man, I'd love to say I did, though!
