Some of you may be asking, "What does this mean?" I'll tell you... it's a week long, online, blog hopping, friend making party! Bloggers from all over are joining in on the fun in hopes to make new connections and new friends. In addition to making connections, these bloggers can win prizes and grow their own network.
At a real party, when I meet new people we always cover the basic "tell me about yourself" questions. So, here's who I am!
My name is Beth. I love God, my family, my friends, Disney, Walt Disney World, Auburn, chocolate cupcakes with white icing, taking naps, baseball, traveling, my Nana's spaghetti sauce, a clean house, planning birthday parties and being outside... to name a few things. I've been writing this blog for 4 years. Obviously, I love Disney since I've been able to write almost 1,200 posts about Walt Disney World, Disneyland, and Disney in general. You can read here why I started my blog. Or you can go here to read all about my DisneySide.
I'm in the beginning phases of reimagining my blog. I
want need a change. I want to still write about Disney majority of the time, but I want to branch out in other territories too. I want to do more reviews and giveaways. I want to write about other things I love and use. I want to make more money. I want to find a new name. There are lots of fun changes on the horizon for this Disney Mom!
Until then, you can still find a plethora of information about Disney. This year, my plan is to write a review, with tips, for each attraction at the 4 parks at Walt Disney World. I also plan to provide a review of all the resorts on Walt Disney World property. You'll also find my weekly Wordless Wednesday and WDW Freebie Friday posts. I'll be joining my friends at the Magical Blogorail each month for a special post and I can't forget the "Kill, Refurb, Marry" post each month!
Enough about the blog.... here's my story!
I'm the oldest of three kids and the only girl. I'm not sure what that says about my personality! I'm a preacher's kid and I swore as a child I would never be in ministry. More on that later... I grew up in North Alabama with 2 years in Atlanta, GA thrown in there. I graduated from Bob Jones High School in Madison, AL and went straight to Auburn University 2 weeks after graduation. After 4 wonderful years at Auburn, a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority, and at least 5 major changes, I graduated in 1996 with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I went on to teach 1st grade for 7 years in Birmingham, AL and received a master's degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
During my last year teaching, I knew I had to get out. I did not agree with the "No Child Left Behind" idea and did not like the bureaucracy of education. But, what is a single, 28 year old female with a master's degree in Early Childhood Education to do... besides teach? That's where God had a sense of humor. Remember when I was a child, I swore I would never go into the ministry?? That's what I did. I moved from Birmingham, AL to Decatur, AL to become a youth minister.
I've been the youth minister at Decatur First United Methodist for the past 11 years. It's bee AMAZING! I love my job. I love my God. I love my youth. I love my church family. It's all good!
About 2 years after moving to Decatur, I met Jonathan. We fell in love. We dated for a year and a half before he proposed to me on top of the Rockefeller Center in New York City (my favorite city)! Three months later we had a small family wedding at Yeilding Chapel at Birmingham Southern College- where my parents got married. Three months after the wedding we spent 2 weeks in Italy for our honeymoon. I still want to return!
When I married Jonathan, I was lucky enough to become JAG's mom. In January of 2009, we welcomed our
Our family loves being outside. We will play any sport thrown at us and we love going to KK and Papa's lake house. While Jonathan and JAG are "Bama" fans, the rest of us are cheering for Auburn! We love the Boston Red Sox, Boston Celtics, and Pittsburg Steelers. We watch way too much Disney Junior and ESPN. We eat dinner together at least 4 nights a week. We worship together and we have fun. C-man and I enjoy making new crafts and trying new recipes together. We are currently planning my 20th, C-man's 3rd and Big E's first trip to Walt Disney World.
