24 Hours to #RockYourDisneySide

From 6:00 AM to 6:00 AM, May 23 to May 24, 2014, everyone is invited to dress up as a favorite Disney hero or villain for 24 hours of fun at the Rock Your Disney Side event at Disneyland in California or Magic Kingdom in Florida!  At this event you can enjoy some of your favorite attractions, shows and entertainment.

Oh how I wish I could attend!  If my boys were just a bit older, I may be able to pull it off.  But, having a 20 month old and a 5 year old in tow ALL NIGHT LONG would not be fun!  So, since I can't attend (this year) I'll just have to write about what I would do at the Magic Kingdom if I were there!
First, I'd have to decide the perfect Hero or Villain costume to wear.  Of course, if I were going with friends or family we would have to coordinate.  Guests who dress in themes for these type of events (MNSSHP, MVMCP, etc.) always get more attention!  I think this year I may choose The Rescuers Down Under.  And you ask, "Why?  That's an odd movie to choose..."  Here's my logic.  24 hours in the park... 24 years ago was 1990... The Rescuers Down Under was released in 1990.  Makes sense, right!?  I think Miss Bianca, Bernard and Jake would be the perfect heroes!
Once I had my costume picked out, I'd make dining reservations.  Being in the park for 24 hours means several meals and snacks!  I think I would start my day with breakfast at Crystal Palace.  For lunch I would sit down at Tony's Town Square.  Dinner would definitely be at Liberty Tree.  Obviously, I'm going to need three full meals to keep me going for 24 hours.  As for snacks... I know there will be at least 1 bucket of popcorn, 1 Mickey shaped soft pretzel and several sweets.  I would plan to purchase some of the special event cupcakes and sweets to commemorate the event.

I also know there will be souvenirs purchased.  I try to get a pin on each trip, so a "Rock Your Disney Side" pin would be a must.  I'm sure I'd also pick up a t-shirt for everyone and whatever else my boys could talk me into getting!

Upon entering the park, I would have to pick up a Times Guide giving all the details of the day.  I would make plans to watch any and all parades and fireworks shows.  I would also make sure I knew were all the character meet and greets would be.  I love meeting unusual and rare characters.  I feel this event would lend itself to some great character interactions!  I would also try to participate in any of the extra entertainment, such as dance parties, Pirate tutorial shows, and street shows.  I don't know if any of these things are going to be a part of the Rock Your Disney Side event, but if they were, I'd be there!
Then there are the attractions!  I would save Hall of Presidents, Carousel of Progress and the Tiki Room for later in the night when I may need a few minutes of sleep.  Not that these attractions are "sleepers", but they provide a good atmosphere to catch a few zzzzz's.  When I needed a pick me up, I'd definitely hit the Mountains- Splash, Big Thunder and Space.

I'm sure I would spend quite a bit of time taking photos, getting autographs, eating, watching people, tweeting, instagramming, and meeting new people.  I think it would be an awesome experience.

If you are going, I'd love to hear your plans in the comments.  And if you aren't going, like me, what would you make sure you did if you were to go?

  1. I love your 24-hour plans! Sounds like a total blast to me!

    1. I wonder if I could even stay awake that long!?!? I LOVE my sleep time!
