Best Way to End a Disney Vacation: Magical Blogorail Red

Welcome to those of you joining me from Frontierland Station and those of you just hopping aboard. I am the 4th stop on our Magical Blogorail.

The best way to end a Disney vacation is to book the next one before you leave... but that's not realistic for my family!  Instead, we like to visit our favorite park, Magic Kingdom.  I always like to end in this park because 1) it's my favorite and 2) I want the last "memory" to be with Cinderella Castle.  There are several things we do on our last day in this park but I make sure we get lots of photographs (with my camera and PhotoPass photographers) and we make those last minute purchases on Main Street.

While we are enjoying our last day at the Magic Kingdom we make a point to take one last ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover.  This is my favorite attraction and if I'm lucky, I can always get a few fun shots of Cinderella Castle.  We also try to meet as many of the characters we weren't able to meet earlier in the week to get photos and autographs.  Even if we already have multiple photos of the family and kids in front of Cinderella Castle, we always get one last shot, or four.

The Emporium, and all the other shops, on Main Street are my favorite stores on property.  While it's not the biggest and maybe it doesn't have everything you're looking for, it has the basics and some.  This is where I tend to buy the majority of my souvenirs.  On our last day we always spend extra time on Main Street shopping.  We have to make sure we remembered to buy for family and friends back home.  This last stroll also helps us remember if we forgot any of the "must have" purchases for ourselves.  We try to wait until the end of the trip, after we've seen it all, to decide on the best souvenirs.

Once we have ridden our favorite attractions one last time, we've made our picture in front of Cinderella Castle and we've hit up all the stores on Main Street, it's that horrible time.  It's time to say good bye to my happy place.  And in my head, I always sing this:

Now it's time to say goodbye
To all our company
M-I-C, (See you real soon)
K-E-Y, (Why? Because we like you!)
M-O-U-S-E

  1. Sounds like a great last day! I usually like doing my last minute shopping at World of Disney at Downtown Disney because I know I can DEFINITELY find everything we need/want in there! I do love the Emporium, though! Have you seen the new color scheme for the People Mover? Thoughts?

  2. Beth it's so funny that you picked this topic because on my last day I am always scrambling to get photos I missed all week while I was taking in the sights and sounds. I too like to make the MK my last park. Nice post - and that song always gets me emotional!

  3. What a great way to end the trip. We usually begin ours on Main Street, USA, for some of the same reasons :) One of my most special Main Street purchases was my husband's & my anniversary Mickey watches. What's one of your best last-day souvenirs?

  4. The Peoplemover is one of my favorites too! We never got a photo of all of us in front of the castle last year. Do you have any tips for getting a good shot without too many other people?

  5. The Magic Kingdom is a great last place to visit at WDW. Other than the TTA, do you have any other favorite attractions you just have to ride again before leaving?

  6. This is usually how we end our trip too! With so much to do at the Magic Kingdom now, we have to hit it one more time to see everything. If we stay all day the cast members waving with their Mickey gloves at night gets me every time. Do you have a snack/meal that you have to have one last time before you leave?

  7. I love spending time on Main Street - I love this plan! Our problem is that we don't usually have an extra ticket day leftover for our last day, so it never works out!

  8. We share a similar last day tradition! I distinctly remember crying one trip (I believe I was pregnant...) because Cinderella Castle was stuck on yellow/orange, my least favorite castle color. I prefer to remember it blue or purple.

  9. Sounds like an awesome last day! The Emporium is one of my favorite shops too. But I tend to avoid shopping on the last day since I tend too buy too much when I'm emotional. haha :)

  10. I am a sucker for all of those activities. It is amazing how long I can make a stroll out of the Emporium. I just don't want to leave.
