I participated in the Idina Menzel Holiday Wishes album review program as a member of One2One Network. I was provided an album to review but all opinions are my own.
When Frozen came out, I wasn't excited. I don't know why, but I wasn't. When I finally saw it in the theatre, I only thought it was OK. After we purchased the DVD and my boys watched it a dozen times, I grew to love it myself. While I loved hearing Idina sing Elsa's songs, I still could not picture Idina as Elsa. Maybe it was the blonde/ white hair!
When it came time to review Idina's new Christmas album, Holiday Wishes, with One2One, I crossed my fingers, HARD, hoping I could get the chance! When my download of this album arrived, I was THRILLED!
Adding this album to the almost 12 hours worth of Christmas music on my iTunes right now made me feel my collection may be near completion. Idina's voice is one of the best out there. It's crisp, clean, smooth and perfect for these songs. As you listen to these songs, you will immediately be put into the Christmas spirit!
There are 12 tracks on Holiday Wishes.
- Do You Hear What I Hear
- The Christmas Song
- Baby It’s Cold Outside (Duet with Michael Buble)
- Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
- All I Want For Christmas
- What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve?
- December Prayer
- When You Wish Upon A Star
- Silent Night
- River
- Holly Jolly Christmas
- White Christmas
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow
Mothers Spiritual
The assortment of songs on this album is great. There are fun, upbeat songs to dance around with your kids such as All I Want For Christmas Is You and Holly Jolly Christmas. Then, there are the sweet, slower songs you listen to as you dance with your spouse! Those are Baby It's Cold Outside, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas and What Are You Doing New Year's Eve. My favorites are the ones that tell the story of Christmas: Silent Night and Do You Hear What I Hear.
If you are familiar with Idina's work on Broadway, you know what you'll expect in this album. She is true to her form. If you like her style, you'll LOVE this album. It's the perfect album to sing along to in the shower or in the car when you can sing at the top of your lungs pretending your are on center stage in the Nederlander Theatre on W 41st Street! Idina sings all of these songs as if she is on center stage and I love it!

I hadn't heard about this album. Idina is such a deserving superstar. (And she's from my town!) I think I would buy this for the duet with Michael Bublé alone!
