Disney Themed Wonder Forge Games for Christmas {Review} | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

I received free products from Wonder Forge in order to review for my blog.
The opinions expressed here are my own.

Many weeks ago I was sent two awesome games from Wonder Forge for my boys to play and for me to write a review on my blog. As you can tell from the frequency of posts the past few months, our life is hectic and my blog has taken a back seat to life. I honestly forgot about the reviews, so first I need to apologize to Wonder Forge for the tardiness of this post! Second, THANK YOU!  We all love these new games and if you are needing some last minute Christmas presents, these are awesome!
The first game is "Roarin' River."  This is a game based off the movie, The Good Dinosaur.  Please don't judge this game based on the movie!  My 6 year old and I both disliked the movie but we love this game.  This was a great game of teamwork.  All of us were working together to help get us all safely down the river without the flood getting us.  When one of us would get a 'help token' we were so excited because we knew it would come in handy later in the game.  We never knew who would need saving, but we were all eager to use it when needed.

Del Monte Fruit & Veggie Fusions {Review} | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

When school started in August, I was asked to review the new Del Monte Fruit & Veggie Fusions.  However, when my sample arrived, the box had apparently been on a rough ride!  My samples were busted and the cardboard box was full of peach juice and squished peaches.  I was sad that I couldn't try this new snack! Del Monte Fruit & Veggie Fusions is a blend of fruit in a lightly sweetened vegetable and fruit juice that equals one combined serving of fruit and vegetables in each cup (contains 1 serving (1/2 cup) that is 75% fruit and 25% vegetables, per USDA Nutrient Data).

"Wish Now" Theme from "Star Darlings" | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

I love having boys.  I couldn't imagine anything else.  However, there are times I wish I had a daughter.  It's times like this.  Earlier this month, Walt Disney Records released the single "Wish Now," the theme from original property "Star Darlings." This series delivers a great message for young girls!  The lyrics to the song "Wish Now" were co-written by Shana Muldoon Zappa and Ahmet Zappa.  This is the first digital single form the original property "Star Darlings."  A second track will be released in January and will be followed by a 5-song EP in Spring 2016.

Love is putting someone else's needs before yours. ~ Olaf
I'm excited to direct you to their web site so you can read why these are two of my favorite quotes!  And check out the other quotes while you're there!

Italian Chocolate and Hazelnut Cake | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

Every fall, my friend Deb from Focused on the Magic hosts a Virtual Food & Wine Festival.  This year, she is unable to host, but I'm still participating!  I love the idea of sharing recipes from around the world.  Several years ago I shared my great grandmother's spaghetti sauce recipe from Italy.  This year, I found a great recipe from the 2004 Epcot Food & Wine Festival on All Ears.  It's a flourless chocolate & hazelnut cake recipe from Piemonte, Italy!

All About Disney's Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

Last fall, our family took the best Walt Disney World vacation ever!  We were able to do so much in just a week.  Even with this being my 20th trip, I was still able to do new things each day.  One of the new things we tried was the Pirates and Pals Fireworks Voyage.  (Warning! This post has lots of pictures!)

This voyage requires a separate ticket outside of your park admission and it's located at the Convention Center in Disney's Contemporary Resort.  We made our reservations for the voyage 180 days out, just like our dining reservations. While the price is high, if you can swing it, I would!  We had so much fun!  As of 9/20/15, the cost is $41 for children and $69 for adults.  For a family of 4, this will cost over $220.  Steep? Yes, but well worth it!

The Healthy Tailgate, #Auburn Style | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

With fall comes many of my favorite things: Halloween, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, Food & Wine Festival at Epcot, cooler temperatures, Thanksgiving, and my favorite~ College Football and Tailgating!  Specifically, tailgating in Auburn, Alabama on the campus of Auburn University, my alma matter.
I love a good tailgate.  I actually prefer it to the game itself... except I miss the pre game stuff inside the stadium when I'm tailgating- the cheerleaders, Aubie the mascot, the AU Band, and the flight of the Eagle.  I LOVE pregame almost as much as I love tailgating. Tailgating is the perfect time to catch up with family and friends who all share the same love of Auburn plus we get to watch Game Day on TV surrounded by our favorite foods!

This graphic is filled with encouraging messages and colorful content for moms to share with their daughters, and little girls to share with their friends and sisters.  It's times like this when I wish I had a daughter!  While the princess stuff at Disney is everywhere you turn, I wouldn't trade my pirate loving, star wars crazy boys for anything!

Disney's Teen Beach 2 Listening Party | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

I received a free Teen Beach 2 Party Pack to host a Listening Party in return for a review on my blog.
There is no better way to end the "Best Summer Ever" than by having a Teen Beach 2 listening party!  When this movie was released on June 26 on The Disney Chanel, we were so excited! We enjoyed the first movie from 2013 and anxiously awaited Teen Beach 2.
When we were asked to host our own Teen Beach 2 Listening party after the movie released we were thrilled!  My 6 year old immediately started making out the list of who we would invite. Then life happened.  Delivery delays, vacations, surgeries, and more kept us from hosting our party in a timely manner.  But, we were finally able to have the party on August 30.

Walt Disney World Freebie Friday: Electrical Water Pageant

One of my favorite "Freebies" at Walt Disney World is The Electrical Water Pageant.  This is a free, floating water parade on Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon that runs nightly starting at 9:00pm- or as soon as the 9:00 fireworks at the Magic Kingdom are over. It can be canceled if there are high winds or inclement weather.

This water parade started in October of 1971 and has run continuously as a popular attraction since. Every night, 14 barges totaling 1000 feet long, containing thousands of lights strung on mesh screens, float across the lake playing synthesized music from Disney animated movies. The lights form different shapes such as King Neptune, various creatures such as dragons, dolphins, seahorses, dinosaurs and octopi (I'd rather say "octopuses, but that's not correct!). The end of the parade is a salute to America with the Stars and Stripes on the barges. The bright lights and synthesized music from the Electrical Water Pageant inspired Disney Imagineers to create a parade for Disneyland and Walt Disney World called the Main Street Electrical Parade!

The Electrical Water Pageant can be viewed from the following resorts at these approximate times:

Polynesian - 9:00 pm
Grand Floridian - 9:15 pm
Wilderness Lodge - 9:35 pm
Fort Wilderness - 9:45 pm
Contemporary - 10:05 pm
Magic Kingdom (only during extra magic hours)- 10:20 pm

You can also see the parade from the entrance area of the Magic Kingdom near the loading dock for the ferry boats. Check with guest relations or a cast member to inquire about the best area to view the Electrical Water Pageant!

Star Wars Weekend and "Oh Lando" by Recess Monkey | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

Earlier this summer, I took my middle son to Walt Disney World for Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios.  We had an absolute blast all weekend long!  One thing we did prior to the trip was have a Star Wars movie weekend.  I'll be honest, May 2015 was the first time I had seen any of the movies.  (I'm still missing episodes I, II, and III....shhhh!)

Right before we had our movie marathon and our amazing weekend, I was sent the information about a new children's album release from the band, Recess Monkey out of Seattle.  The album is called Hot Air, but the song that caught my attention was "Oh, Lando."  Yes, it's a song about Lando Calrissian from Star Wars!! Once I saw the movie, "The Empire Strikes Back", this song made much more sense! :)

Yes, Sweetie, You Can Be a Princess {Book Review} | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

I received a free digital copy of Yes, Sweetie, You Can Be a Princess in return for a review on my blog.

Having three boys, I don't deal with the "princess movies" very much.  When we do watch one of those movies, it's usually Brave or The Princess and the Frog.  Tiana and Merida are "cool princesses" according to my middle son! Maybe it's the archery or the amphibians that make these girls cool.

When I was asked to review the book, "Yes, Sweetie, You Can Be a Princess," my initial thought was, "This doesn't apply to my all boy, non-princess watching, dirt, soccer and baseball family." Then I thought outside of my world and realized some of my friends, family and readers may benefit from a book like this, so I accepted!

The Perfect Football Birthday Party | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

My 6 year old decided he was too old for a Disney themed birthday party this year.  While this did break my heart, we still had to have a party.  He decided to have a football party.  It wasn't just any football party, it was a Decatur High School football party.
Being the youth minister at our church, I have several students who play varsity football and are varsity cheerleaders.  I got them to help with the party activities and it was a blast!  Originally, we were going to have the party in our backyard but having a January birthday makes outdoor birthdays questionable.  When I was talking with one of the football players, he suggested I call the head coach.  Luckily, I'm good friends with the coach and he allowed us to come to the football field house for our party!

Alice in "One"derland 1st Birthday | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

Earlier this summer we were invited to our cousin Alice's first birthday party.  If you have a daughter named Alice, isn't it appropriate to have an "Alice in Wonderland" themed party?  Well, this party was over. the. top!  "Baby Alice" may not remember this party in the future, but her mommy went overboard to make it special.  I don't think I've ever been to a better themed party!

Warning: Lots of pictures! :)

Disneyland vs Walt Disney World from Hipmunk | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

I was sent the following informational graphic from Staci at Company B.  I thought this was an interesting graphic breaking down the cost of Disneyland vs Walt Disney World.  While I do believe there are cheaper ways to visit both locations, this gives a great idea of what the costs can be.  You can read the entire article here.

What do you think?  Do you think Walt Disney World is a better deal, financially?

General Mills Cereals Team Up with the Minions {Giveaway} | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

Recently I received a General Mills Package with a box of Mini Trix cereal, a box of Betty Crocker Minion fruit flavored snacks, an exclusive Minions Buddy and a $25 Fandango gift card to see the film, Minions, in theaters for writing a review and hosting a giveaway on my blog

We were able to go see "Minions" this week with our Fandango gift card! My son has been counting down the days since he saw the first trailer. My son loved the movie. He talked about it the whole way home and has been sharing which Minion toys he wants next. The movie was cute and had several funny parts that my husband and I caught. C-man was too young to understand the references to 1969. While I'm not sure this is a movie we will own in the future, I'm glad we were able to see it together. It gave C-man an afternoon with mom and dad without either brother tagging along.

Chewbacca Counts Down to Star Wars Weekends | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

We were at Walt Disney World May 28- June 2, 2015.  Our main purpose for this trip was to experience Star Wars Weekends at Disney's Hollywood Studios. This was actually my son's Christmas present.  He and I traveled down together, along with my mom, for the long weekend.  We were so excited about this trip and had been counting down since he opened the gift on Christmas morning and learned he was "going to Disney World!"

I wanted to help make this trip extra special.  I wanted to do something fun and more memorable to help count down the days... but I didn't want it to consume my time and energy!  I thought about our "Elf Magic" at Christmas who helps count down the days until Christmas morning.  I decided I would spin off of that!

On day 1, Chewbacca arrived along with a letter.  This letter explained that Raleigh, our elf, sent Chewie to come visit and help us count down!  The best part was C-man fully believed it! (I love this age!)

Spot It! Numbers & Shapes with Olaf {Review} | A Disney Mom's Thoughts

I was sent a complimentary sample of this products to review for my blog.
No further compensation was received and all opinions expressed are my own.

We have a new favorite game in our house: Spot It!  While we already have the "Disney Pixar Spot It! Words" game, it is just a bit too advanced for my boys still.  C-man is learning how to play the reading version, but this Olaf/ Frozen Spot It! game is perfect!  This is a game my 2 and 6 year old can play together since reading is not involved.  It can keep them occupied for at least 15 minutes! AND, it hasn't started any fights! ;)
